With Blogspot’s fancy pagerank and with Google’s recent introduction of real-time content indexing of blogs using the service, the interest of blackhat SEO-ers into the efficient registration and posting of junk content with the idea to monetize the traffic that will come from the process, seems to continue evolving as a process.

There was a time when companies could simply boot up a Web site and their content would immediately begin showing up in various search engines. For better or worse, those days are long gone. To have content displayed, corporations need to understand what the search engines are looking for and then provide it to them. If one company does not want to do that, a competitor certainly will.

One of the nice things about the search world over the last few years was that we were starting to see less focus on "get
rankings quick" style methods and more focus on what some have dubbed "holistic" search marketing. The idea was to stop focusing on finding the holes in the algorithm that would help push your site to the top of the rankings quickly and to focus on building sites that will rank well in the long term and that will attract qualified visitors that will convert to buyers. Unfortunately, the introduction of link baiting and social media seems to be taking us a few steps backwards in this regard.

I have been doing SEO for some time now and I have been witness to many a strange occurrence regarding serps. Most of these weird
occurrence I would have to say are directly attributed to a Google Filter or Google penalty. Yahoo today released its Top 10 Searches for 2006 and once again pop singer Britney Spears reigns
supreme. "Britney Spears" has been the leading query for the past five years, having only been dethroned briefly in 2004 by Paris Hilton.
Editors, it turns out, have a hand in supporting the Spears regime. Yahoo’s list, like certain celebrities best left unnamed, has gone under the knife for the sake of appearance. Unseemly search terms have been unceremoniously excised.
