Google AdSense is probably one of the most popular revenue generators in the Web. We hear the stories about bloggers-genies, who manage to turn their blogs into cash machines overnight. However, it’s not that simple to find the actual tips, which stick to Google policies, might increase your revenues and don’t try to trick out the readers of your weblog.

Google just announced that it’s testing what it call Pay-Per-Action ads. Basically, advertisers will pay not for every click, as they do now, but only when someone buys something, fills out a form, or takes some other action (besides clicking). On the surface, it looks like the Holy Grail for advertisers, some of whom wonder why they’re paying for clicks that may produce no revenue, or may even be fraudulent. But it’s not a replacement for pay-per-click ads.

Despite a false start in the early days, banner advertising has matured and is now firmly established in the internet marketing world. In its’ early days, it was assumed that the World Wide Web was an improvement on the Television and therefore many mistook it for an advertising medium. Several billion dollars later, they were proved wrong. The Internet is in fact interactive information medium that is more of an improvement on the telephone than anything else.

Rand Fishkin knows how valuable it is for a Web site to rank high in a Google search. But even this president of a search engine optimization firm was blown away by a proposal he received at a search engine optimization conference in London last month, where he was a panelist.

Okay so here’s the deal: not too long ago, Wikipedia had a page listing known websites with a PageRank of 10, and a large number of
sites with PageRank 9. However it was decided that the page contradicted Wikipedia’s article policy and so was deleted. (Personally I found it a great resource, but their rules are there for a reason, I guess.) Anyway, since I haven’t seen it replicated anywhere else on the internet, I have put a copy here on my site for anyone who misses the Wikipedia page to view.

One of the ways by which many bloggers and webmasters raise money to support their web publishing habits is by including
advertising on their sites. Although many advertising options are available, Google’s AdSense program is by far the most popular and commonly used. Depending on your site’s audience, you can earn anywhere from a few dollars to thousands of dollars per month with AdSense. In many cases—my own sites included—the revenue raised far exceeds the cost of hosting, thus earning the blogger or webmaster a few extra bucks a month. Sometimes the revenue received is far more, and becomes a substantial part of the blogger’s or webmaster’s income.
