Adsense Publishers can now track the success rate of product referrals on specific pages or
websites as the channel feature is now available for referrals like Picasa, Firefox, Adsense and Adwords.
You are allowed to create upto 200 active channel names for Referrals. To add a channel to existing Adsense Referral code, either overwrite the code with the new version or just append the following line: (more…)

AdSense has launched a new beta test called Vertical Images, where an image would take the
place of an ad within an AdSense ad unit. These images - which are generic, and not company-specific - act similar to an ad link unit, linking to a page related to the ads and image that appeared in the ad unit.

An eye-tracking study conducted by the Nielsen/Norman Group finds Internet users avoid viewing
banner ads. Text advertising is read more often than display ads, according to the research.
Banner blindness means Internet users focus on the content on a page and ignore the advertisements. This is especially true for bright, flashing ads, and other units that are not relevant to what the user is interested in reading, the researchers found.

Last night, after market close, I received the following email from Google’s AdSense team:
The Google AdSense team would like to invite you to test a feature that provides you with a new way to earn revenue from your website by hosting ads that are compensated based on a Cost-Per-Action [CPA] basis. These ads are very different in that you will be able to choose amongst a selection and you will also have more flexibility in promoting them

MSN first announced adLab back in January, but it has now been made available to everyone (in
beta) with a wide variety of interesting keyword tools for advertisers and marketers. They have launched with 11 demos, broken down into areas Paid Search, Contextual Advertising, Behavior Targeting and Emerging Markets.

In an effort to further expand the number of sites running its advertising as part of the AdSense

…Google is secretive. This started as a deliberate marketing mystique, but endures today more
as a really annoying company habit. Google folks don’t understand why the rest of us have a problem with this, but then Google folks aren’t like you and me. The result of this secrecy and Google’s "almighty algorithm" mentality is that the company makes changes — and mistakes — without informing its customers or even doing all that much to correct the problems. It’s all just beta code, after all. But the business part is real, as is the money that some people have lost because of Google’s poor communication skills combined, frankly, with poor follow-through.
